Be clean and pure in heart has a supreme value before God; so much that nobody with an impure heart or that loves the world more than the Lord will be able to enter to His Kingdom
The Bible says: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” Mathew 5:8
“Truly God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart” Psalm 73:1
We can get confuse thinking: “I don’t have a pure heart because I have bad wishes, but the problem are not the bad wishes, but what we are going to do with them, we can make them die by the power of the Holy Spirit or we can give them space in our life deliberately.
If we want to have a pure heart in other words is keeping clean. Our hearts by nature are leaning to corrupt things, Jeremiah said: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? Jr.17:9. Nobody can say that was born with a sanctified heart, but when we listen to the word of God and obey Him we get the capacity of cleaning our heart. Be clean is start to obey His word, and if we sin we shouldn’t stay sinning, this is a way of cleaning.
Let’s say that the sin is like a water well and the holiness a way, if we fall in the well we should get out of it and keep in the way and be aware of not fall down in again. Jesus forgave a woman who committed adultery, but He told her: “go and don’t sin more”. As we obey the word of God we are cleaning the way. If we put the words of Jesus in our heart to obey him we will be clean.
The word of God is like clean water as much as we look for it. There are people that don’t want to obey, they prefer to surrender to the evil desires, fight for overcome to all dishonest issue in your life.
To have a clean heart is not “be perfect” but be pure are people that reach the perfection, they take great pains to become spiritually mature.
Those sons of God that live by the word, according to the word, they have pure hearts and they are happy. They will be rewarded now and eternally.
